Nutri-Mulch

Nutri-Mulch
Nutri-Mulch

Description

Nutri-Mulch is a great choice for garden beds, vegetable gardens, flower beds, and around trees and shrubs because it works as both a mulch and a soil builder, suppressing weeds, retaining soil moisture, and feeding the soil as it breaks down. This is a blend of bark and wood pieces with composted turkey litter, giving it a nutrient-rich, earthy character you won't get from plain wood mulch. With its warm reddish-brown tone and mix of bark flakes, wood chips, and fine particles, Nutri-Mulch delivers a natural, finished look along with a boost for your plants. Whether used across new planting beds, around established shrubs, or in the garden, Nutri-Mulch gives you the benefits of mulch and compost in a single product.

Installation Depth Guide — Cubic Yard Coverage for Nutri-Mulch

Depth Coverage per Cubic Yard Recommendation
1″ ~324 sq ft Too shallow
1.5″ ~216 sq ft Not recommended
2″ ~162 sq ft Minimum depth
2.5″ ~130 sq ft Recommended
3″ ~108 sq ft Ideal depth
4″ ~81 sq ft Usually unnecessary
5″ ~65 sq ft Excessive

Note: A typical installation depth is 2–3 inches for most garden beds and planting areas. Because Nutri-Mulch contains composted turkey litter, it is richer in nutrients than plain wood mulch, so more is not always better — avoid piling it deeper than 3–4 inches, and go lighter around young seedlings and tender plants. Keep mulch pulled back a few inches from tree trunks and plant stems — piling mulch directly against them ("volcano mulching") traps moisture against the bark and can lead to rot and pest issues. Water well after spreading to help it settle, and plan to top-dress as needed to maintain depth as it breaks down. When in doubt, test a small section first.

Product details, what you should know

  • Sizing: A mixed grind of bark flakes, wood chips, and fine particles, with pieces generally ranging from fine crumbles up to about 3″ in length. Natural variation in particle size and moisture between loads is normal.
  • Composition: A blend of bark and wood material with composted turkey litter. A natural, organic product that adds nutrients to the soil as it breaks down, unlike plain wood mulch.
  • Appearance: Warm reddish-brown to medium brown coloring, with lighter tan bark flakes and occasional darker pieces mixed in. No dye or coloring added. Color may vary between loads and appears darker when moist.
  • Usage notes: Spread on top of the soil surface as a mulch, or use it around plants as a nutrient-rich top-dressing. Keep it a few inches away from trunks and stems, and water after spreading. As a composted manure-based product, it may have a mild, earthy odor when first delivered, which fades as it settles and dries.
  • History: Material has remained generally consistent in color and texture over time. Minor variation in particle size and moisture content between loads is normal for a natural, organic product.
  • Also known as: Commonly referred to as turkey mulch, turkey compost mulch, or nutrient-rich mulch.

RockOn.com’s Insight

Nutri-Mulch is a great pick for customers who want more from their mulch than weed control and a finished look. Because it blends bark and wood with composted turkey litter, it feeds the soil as it breaks down, which makes it a popular choice for vegetable gardens, flower beds, and around hungry shrubs and perennials. Spread a 2–3 inch layer, keep it back from stems and trunks, and top it up as it settles. Stop by the yard to see the mulch in person and pick up a free sample before you order.
